VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
I placed an order with Marshall Dry Goods or something like that. I bought Christmas fabric, which is very cute but it is almost transparent. I thought JoAnne Fabric was thin. I had my DH feel the Marshall fabric and being a guy, his reaction was why am I feeling this fabric. I then gave him a piece of fabric from M* and he couldn't believe what a difference in thickness. He even said, why don't I stick with M* because, you know you are getting good fabric.
I thought it was my imagination.
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I bought some fabric from them last week and it is beautiful and is not thin at all. It feels wonderful. I put it next to some of the expensive name brand fabrics I have and it is very close to the same quality.
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
That happens sometimes even at good quilt stores. I just bought some solid black at my LQS and realized after I cut it that it is thinner than my other fabric that I've bought there. Wasn't real happy with it, but I need to get this quilt done for a birthday. I'd call Marshall's and let them know that you are not pleased.
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
Once you have crappy fabric you never want it again!
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
I bought some white fabric at my LQS and when I started to use it, it felt almost like gauze, it was so thin. So for my whites, blacks and creams I tend to stick with Moda or Kona and order from M*.
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
I bought from Marshall Dry Goods too , and I was very happy with the fabric I received. Sometimes it is just crappy fabric no matter where you buy it.
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
Was there a fabric brand?
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
Call them. Their customer service is outstanding. I've ordered from them for a long time. Once they sent an order to our place in FL after I had requested it sent to KY. I had even gotten the confirmation that it was being sent to KY. A neighbor called to let me know about the package and when I called Marshall Drygoods, they duplicated the order at no cost to me and sent it to the right place. Almost 5 yards of fabric and said no charge due to the inconvenience caused me. I've never gotten inferior fabric from them.
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
Will washing it tighten it up a bit? Feel your disappointment.:(
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
Marshall dry goods either carries a lot of the same fabric that Walmart has, or is a supplier to walmart. Many of their fabrics are stiff and rough, but I have found that the wash up beautifully.

This is why I never order fabric from Connecting Threads...mine was so thin you could almost see thru it.
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
They supply Hancock fabrics as well.
That said, you paid $3.99 a yard. Did you expect $12.00 quality?
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
Is Marshall Dry Goods like the Big Lots of fabric? Do they buy up leftovers? I was on their site and saw...Riley Blake, RJR etc for 3.99 and 4.99 yd.

I think it is because they buy out last years prints. Most of my fabrics are not current anyway, so it works for me. and how do blenders and solids go out of style?
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
I've always had good luck with them--sorry you didn't. Try contacting them, I have found them helpful.
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
Yes I noticed that Marshall Dry Goods had the some of the same fabrics as ones I had bought at Walmart. I picked out some for $3/yard that had the feel of Quilt shop fabrics.
Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!
We buy some of our fabrics for resell from Marshall's. I have never had an issue with anything we have bought from them. I like being able to get name brand fabrics from them and sell them at a small profit to pass on to others. I buy bolts of white on white fro them and have never been disappointed.
